How to Prevent Students’ Dishonesty Using Mobile Devices for Polling
A few students might attempt to find out the Mobile Polling Session ID from other students, while being outside the classroom. Then, they attempt to answer clicker questions from home and outside. In the Part I tutorial shows you how change a setting that students can’t see the polling question and possible answers on their mobile device screen. Therefore, students have to come to the class to see the polling questions through the classroom projector. In the Part II tutorial shows how to see whether students have left PointSolutions app. In the Part II tutorial shows you some useful information you can see in the session log.
Part I: Disable Questions Showing Up on Mobile Devices
- Login PointSolutions Desktop software.
- Under Mobile Responses, click “Enable.”
- Select “Session Options.”
- Select “Display response buttons only” and click “Save.”
Note: You only need to do this setting once. It will apply to other polling automatically.
Part II: See Whether or Not Students Have Left the PointSolutions app
- To view when students leave the PointSolutions app on their mobile devices, click the Messaging icon during or after polling.
- In the Messaging dialog box that pops up, you can see whether or not a student has left the app during polling.
Part III: Viewing the Session Log After Polling
- Open PointSolutions Desktop and click the Manage tab.
- Select a session.
- Click Reports.
- In the Results by Question drop-down menu, select Session Log.
- Make sure only Participant Events is checked.
- You can now view student activities during the polling session under Session Log.
