Starting Fall 2014, University of Houston established the first Active Learning Classroom (ALC) in Cougar Place. This classroom allows the instructor to move beyond the traditional lecture format and engage students in participatory active learning activities. Last Fall, 6 instructors teaching 8 courses in this classroom. From the survey, the student survey indicated that students unanimously liked the interaction and the “collective cooperation” that this room afforded.
